Background of the Study

In Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria, traditional customs, rituals, and social norms play a significant role in shaping rural development outcomes. Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of cultural practices, their influence on rural development in Akinyele is double-edged. Conflicts between cultural norms and modern development initiatives have led to tensions within communities, affecting project implementation and resource allocation (Babatunde, 2024). This dichotomy highlights a critical challenge: how to preserve cultural identity while fostering economic progress. The study seeks to assess the impact of cultural practices on rural development and identify strategies that leverage cultural strengths while mitigating restrictive elements.
